bowling, floyd, & african dancing

Today happened to be a very long day, and I was really excited about it!

My friend Meghann and I were dropped off at bowling alley, and that's where she and I spent our afternoon hanging out :) It was really exciting for me, because I mean, she & I have hung out at the library before without a parent present, but this is the first time I've actually done something fun with a friend by ourselves!

She and I had an awesome time bowling together! Maybe some people think it's lame, but I really enjoy bowling, haha.
I had some extra money left, and the bowling alley had a little restaurant  so I bought us a Veggie Wrap, along with a big pretzel (and Meghann also got herself some curly fries as well!)

stuffed animal we got from the claw machine!
After bowling, Meghann's sister Shannon picked us up and drove us to Floyd, Virginia. That's where we spent a few hours there, walking around town, going into all the hippie shops, we also stopped at the Red Rooster Cafe (Shannon works there)
and we drank smoothies!~

ahaha afterwards, we drove to Roanoke, Virginia where we stopped at her uncle Ian's house.

We hosted the International Dinner / Potluck at her uncle's house - tonights theme was Africa! The reason for doing so, was that tonight in downtown Roanoke, an African music group was preforming, so we figured the African dinner would co-inside with the events tonight!

The food was pretty good, but I don't really like a lot of spicy food, and that's what a lot of the dishes were :) So it was eh for me.

Later on, we all drove over to the theater, it was a group of 10+ in total of us going. I was super excited for this performance!

It was soooo GREAT! It was incredibly lively, upbeat, and fun to dance to. During the intermission, some of the members talked about where they are from in African and what their life was like back then, which I thought was pretty awesome.

Near the end of the show, anyone who wanted to could come up and dance, so naturally Meghann and I headed up there to jam out!! It was tons of fun!! By the end of the night I was exhausted, we didn't get to Meghann's house until almost 1am! Since it was so very late, I just spent the night there :)

Sleepovers with the Megster

Meghann and I had a sleepover...... yay!
that night we marathon'd How I Met Your Mother, and we jumped on the trampoline until 1am! Plus, the deal with the bandaids was that Meg had a pimple she didn't like, so she wanted to cover it up with a bandaid, so I put some on my face too so she didn't feel so left out :)

And the 'war paint' was from earlier that day during History Class, haha.

Sleepover at the Library

For the end of the Summer Reading Program at the library, they held a Sleepover (from 8pm-8am) at the library!
"Shake your Booty"

Myself, and my friend Meghann volunteered to help out with all the nights activities (and of course, to participate as well!)

In total, 51 people spent the night at the library. Of course, that number does include some parents, considering some of the younger kids needed a guardian there as well.

I haven't had this much fun in a long time! The library had a room called "the movie room" which is where they had a non-stop reel of movies playing all night - this is where the snacks and most the kids hung out in.

In the 'teen section' of the library was a video game center (the place my brother hung out for the majority of the night.) and spread out through the library was even craft tables and games!
one of the games. the objective is to try and throw
cheese puffs on your partners head.

If you thought all that wasn't enough, we even had an "Olympics"! playing different games/events during the night, sigh as "CUPPONG" or "Angry Birds". At the end of the Olympics, the kiddos with the highest scores got little awards.

Craft table

real life angry birds!
At the end of the night, once most of the other kids went to bed, Meghann, myself, and a few other kids decided to have a game of hide-and-seek in the dark library. It was literally a dream come true.

Having freedom in the library to run around and scream was exhilarating, I loved having the opportunity to help out and also be involved in the fun as well!

Hair dyeing?

Trash Bag Dresses, the latest fashion!
I had a fabulous time at the DiPietro's house, not only was it a night of fabulous food, movie watching, duck chasing and carrying baby goats, it was a fun sleepover that even included.... hair dyeing?

Meghann and I are both homeschoolers and have known each other for quiet a long time now. We both see each other often and love hanging out.

Meghann posing, wearing her 'new hat'

Her older sisters were dyeing their hair- My hair is very long and I've been growing it for a long time, so dyeing is something I'd NEVER do, but in this case we're all having such a fun time, and I decided to go for it!

The end result = Vampire Red!

Meghann's house is very cool, not only do they have an old graveyard on their land, they have a flock of ducks, many baby goats, sheep, and at least 9 horses. I bet it's fun living on a farm!

Pink! (though it looks orange in picture)
